This is my kinesis classic keyboard. The letters were sanded off because I hated looking at a lie (1). Because I'm sure you are dying to know, the bottom row is bound (from left to right) to Hyper, Super, Control, Meta. The key to the left of `a' is bound to "Select Insert Insert", which makes for easy pasting of text. The arrow on F4 and the dot on F6 are mementos of the old days (may they come again no more) of trying to control FVWM with the keyboard.
Here is a shot of the thumb keys on the left, which I also modded. Kinesis gave me an extra space/backspace pair for free, and I replaced other keys that I found to be obnoxiously protrusive with the original qwerty homerow (2). The second backspace key is bound to modeswitch, `L' is bound to F6 (which is bound to "ratpoison escape"), `A' is bound to Alt, `J' is bound to return, and `F' is bound to tab. Symmetrically for the right hand.
Here is what I use when I am travelling.
(1) Even though my keyboard now resides under my desk on a keyboard tray, I really like not having letters on the keys.
(2) I bought the expensive QD keys; all but the home row now sit in a box somewhere.
